This is Tina, who …in the past only knew the words “bad girl”. In August 2011 she was rescued from a drainage ditch along 1-49 by an ARF-LA volunteer and the journey to her new life began. Tina spent seven months at the ARFanage in the dorm/kennels with other ARFans and the past few months in a foster home working on rebuilding Tina’s confidence. I, her alpha (foster mom) would have to say that Tina is one of the smartest dogs I have ever worked with. Her willingness to please is unexplainable. Who knew that all this time tucked inside of this scared to death … frightened of everything young dog was this wonderful creature whose learning ability is endless.
After working with her for the past few months I believe that she is a mixture of Australian Cattle Dog/ Blue heeler and who know what else. I know Tina is a thinker and her excellent memory a bonus. Her life is so much better now days because she hears the words “good girl” over and over. She'll do whatever you ask her to do … just to hear those words. She has been around farm animals (chicken, turkey, pig, horse). A few family members have met her and she does a trick or two for my four year old granddaughter. Tina has been to a few pet adoptions for the social experience. Her confidence continues to grow as she waits for just that right person to come along.
Tina would make a great single/one on one companion and you could teach her to do nearly anything … seriously! Within a patient family unit Tina would make an excellent dog/family member or she would get along great with your existing submissive pet needing a friend. Because her mind is so fresh and willing to learn I would suggest her a good companion in a patient home with positive reinforcement and with a well rounded dog that would exhibit good and obedient behavior.
